Presenter: Dr. Angela Babuk

Angela, a critical care physician focusing on services for under-resourced communities, migrated from Afghanistan and Russia to BC. She earned a biopsychology degree from SFU and an MD from UBC, where she also trained in General Internal Medicine. Angela furthered her education with Critical Care Medicine at University of Calgary, Echocardiography at UBC, and Cardiothoracic Critical Care in Cambridge before practicing in BC. She is a HQBC Clinical Fellow.

Angela works at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and is pursuing a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins, focusing on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She aims to enhance healthcare quality and access through system-level changes driven by solid data. Angela’s goal is to develop a system for identifying and bridging service gaps for critically ill patients in underserved communities, ultimately improving care equity.
