Emergency Care BC invites physicians with emergency medicine experience to join the Provincial ED Physician Contingency Locum Pool, to support urgent and last-minute vacancies at priority ED sites facing imminent understaffing.

Physicians will be asked to submit a letter of good standing from your Chief of Staff or Department Head.
Your personal information is being collected in compliance with BC privacy legislation under sections 26(c) and (e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Your information may be shared with the Ministry of Health and health authorities to support B.C.’s urgent physician locum coverage.
About the Provincial ED Physician Contingency Locum Pool
The Provincial ED Physician Contingency Locum Pool:
• Supports locums to fill vacancies at sites across the province, regardless of your home health authority.
• Coordinates with the Ministry of Health and all regional health authorities.
• Facilitates a streamlined process to get locums filling shifts in sites outside of their health authority.
• Offers relief to communities across B.C. facing ED closures.
• Is open to BC-licensed physicians in good standing, and recently graduated residents, with emergency medicine experience.
ECBC will support:
• Recruiting physicians.
• Streamlining credentialing and privileging for all HAs across B.C.
• Screening eligible sites and collecting locum shift details.
• Matching locum shifts with available physicians.
• Connecting locums with HA leads to facilitate compensation, travel & accommodation and on-boarding.
• Evaluating participation and feedback on an ongoing basis.
