What is the Provincial ED Physician Contingency Locum Pool
Emergency Care BC has created a Provincial ED Physician Contingency Locum Pool to fill urgent and last-minute vacancies at priority ED sites facing imminent understaffing.
We invite you to join the locum pool, made up of physicians who are interested in supporting eligible urgent, last-minute shifts in EDs across B.C. that can’t be filled using conventional staffing approaches and mitigation strategies.
• Supports locums to fill vacancies at sites across the province, regardless of your home health authority.
• Developed in coordination with the Ministry of Health and all regional health authorities.
• ECBC facilitates a streamlined process to get locums filling shifts in sites outside of their health authority.
• Offers relief to communities across B.C. facing ED closures.
• The pool is open to BC-licensed physicians in good standing, and recently graduated residents, with emergency medicine experience.
ECBC will support:
• Physician recruitment.
• Streamlined credentialing and privileging for all HAs across B.C.
• Screening eligible sites and collecting locum shift details.
• Matching locum shifts with available physicians.
• Connecting locums with health authority leads to facilitate compensation, travel & accommodation and other on-boarding details.
• Evaluating participation and feedback on an ongoing basis.
Click the button below to join the pool. Please note you will be asked to submit a letter of good standing from your Chief of Staff or Department Head.
Your personal information is being collected in compliance with BC privacy legislation under sections 26(c) and (e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Your information may be shared with the Ministry of Health and health authorities to support B.C.’s urgent physician locum coverage.
