Dr. Andrew Kestler and his team at the Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM) recently created a checklist of best practices for emergency medicine departments to care for people using opioids, using a Delphi process. They presented their findings at the CAEP/ICEM 2025 conference in Montreal.
CRISM is teaming up with the CAEP Addictions Committee to implement this checklist in emergency departments across Canada, with funding and support available for participating departments. Their goal is to improve care and data collection in up to 10 departments, enhancing resources for patients in need.
