Dr. Riyad Abu-Laban has been an outstanding leader and guiding force as Interim Scientific Director of Emergency Care BC. As co-chair of the Data, Analytics, and Metrics (DAM) Committee, his deep expertise in emergency care data and analytics, coupled with a sharp understanding of the challenges facing emergency care in Canada, has been instrumental in shaping our work.

Beyond his professional contributions, Riyad’s leadership is defined by openness, pragmatism, and a collaborative spirit. A thoughtful listener, he welcomes diverse perspectives and fosters open communication and teamwork. His ability to navigate complex issues with a practical mindset, combined with his integrity and approachable nature, has made him a valued colleague and mentor.

While we will greatly miss him in this role, we look forward to future collaborations and the continued benefit of his insight and expertise.
