We are pleased to announce that Lori Korchinski and Dr. Todd Ring have joined the leadership team at Emergency Care BC (ECBC).

Lori Korchinski – Executive Director, Emergency Care BC

Lori KorchinskiLori comes to us from Vancouver Coastal Health where she held a number of progressive leadership roles, including as the Clinical Operations Director and Regional Program Director for Emergency and Trauma (VCH/PHC). Lori has a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a background in emergency nursing from the University of Victoria.

Lori has a visionary approach to leadership, a patient-centered lens, strong systems thinking and a commitment to quality. Her many successes over the past several years included deploying the Mobile Medical Unit to the Downtown Eastside during the peak of the opiate overdose crisis and creating a standardized regional approach to trauma education. Lori led the emergency department through the award-winning healthy workplace initiative and introduced innovative staffing approaches and practice initiatives within the Respiratory Therapy Program. She supported critical care and Burns Trauma High Acuity in an innovative retention and recruitment approach which led to successfully providing excellent patient care through the COVID-19 pandemic challenges. She served as the Vancouver Acute Emergency Operations Centre Director during the response to the pandemic, and her leadership in this role was instrumental to the well-executed, coordinated and comprehensive pandemic response.

Lori lives in Vancouver with her husband Mark and two children Rex and Noa on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. They enjoy travelling, culinary adventures, good music and spending time with friends.

Dr. Todd Ring – Provincial Medical Director, Emergency Care BC

Dr. Todd RingTodd brings to this role a number of leadership experiences. He served as the Department Head and Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Royal Inland Hospital for five years. He went on to serve as head of the regional network for Emergency Services in Interior Health from 2012 to 2017. Most recently, he took on a significant leadership role as Chief of Staff at the Royal Inland Hospital, serving in that role from 2017 to December 2022. As Chief of Staff, he collaborated with his dyad partner the Executive Director of Clinical Operations in navigating the challenges of COVID and the post-pandemic recovery period, implementing a new electronic medical record and opening a new patient care tower. In addition to his role with Emergency Care BC, Todd will continue serving as an emergency physician and trauma team leader at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, as well as the Interior Health Transport Advisor, providing clinical oversight to the IH High Acuity Response Team (HART).

Todd has degrees from Simon Fraser University and University of British Columbia. He completed his Family Medicine Residency and Emergency Medicine Residency at University of Calgary as Chief resident of both programs.

Todd is committed to community engagement and has contributed to the sports medicine community for many years, serving as medical director for sporting teams and events, providing medical oversight and developing emergency action plans. Todd lives in Kamloops with his wife Lesley and their three children on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Secwépemc Nation. They enjoy skiing at Sun Peaks, mountain biking and spending time in the Shuswap.


The Executive Director and Provincial Medical Director will work closely together as dyad partners and oversee the strategic and operational work of ECBC to optimize health outcomes, improve the quality and coordination of services, and enhance the experience for patients, families, and providers requiring emergency care services within B.C.
